Fox Business

It's no excuse...

... between the INSANE shoot schedule for the show I am doing on a network I can't quite mention on my blog yet, another show I am taping for another network, my satellite media tours, the book pitch, and all of the Fox Business, Fox News, Fox Radio, foxnews.com Strategy Room and now Sky News appearances I've put my precious blog on the back burner. I also blame Twitter for this as well (if you want a play by play of my days, PLEASE follow me on Twitter it is SO easy for me to update) I've been on location in this small mountain town in upstate New York, and I am back in NYC tonight to judge the Supima Cotton Design Competition. Last November, I was part of a team of judges that poured over portfolios of some VERY talented new designers. We picked our favorites, gave them the task of creating a dress from 15 yards of Supima cotton material and asked them to go to work. I can't wait to see what was created! And for the avid readers of this blog, I sincerely apologize. Part of my plan for 2009 is to somehow find balance in all of the insanity, which means having time for everything. I will post photos from tonight, from the holidays, and of course from the Golden Globes. It's nice to be back.

Schedule for the week.

It's been a crazy week/ weekend and there is lots to talk about- hopefully you all have been following my Twitter feed to get the full scope of how insane it has been and this week will not be any different: TODAY: Monday the 24th: Fox News The Live Desk with Martha MacCallum and Trace Gallagher (panel discussion on all things retail- I think people are going to go out and shop like the world is ending- I am sure others disagree with me) Hit time: 2:20 pm   Wednesday the 26th: Fox Business Cavuto (always a lively discussion on Black Friday and all things retail) Hit time: 6:30ish   Thursday the 27th (Thanksgiving): Fox News America's Newsroom Hit time: TBD

Friday the 28th: Fox Business America's Nightly Scoreboard with David Asman Hit time: 7:00-8:00pm

Thanks to everyone for watching!!

It's that time of the month...

...when I get ready to analyze monthly retail sales numbers on Fox Business!! If you are near a TV, tune in between 1- 2pm. I really don't expect the consumer to have spent very much of anything in July, but I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the numbers tomorrow.

It's been crazy.

OK, I took a short term hiatus from the blog because it's been really, really nuts lately. If you hit the magazine stand often you'll know what I mean. I've been staffed on some pretty major stories for a totally awesome magazine that I can't mention on this blog. BUT that doesn't mean you can't go to your favorite newsstand and search for my byline to figure out which magazine it is! C'mon! I know you want to spend hours of your day looking for my name everywhere! In addition to the all the writing, the Fox Biz segments and generally trying to get my self together, I've been going out. A LOT. I forgot how fun spring is in the city...

Same store sales numbers are out and I am talking about it on Fox Business today!!

Retail same store sales for April were for the most part on low side. What's new? What's shocking are the double digit drop Gap, Abercrombie and Fitch as well as American Eagle experienced!! I'll be talking about all of this today on Fox Business at around 12:30 pm!!

On Fox Business today!!

I'm talking about malls and how they are one of the biggest losers in this recession we are in. But not because all of these other little stores are going out of business, it's because the larger retailers like JC Penny's can't get the traffic in!! AND no one wants to buy anything because gas is so expensive!! Why would I drive to the mall (if I lived in a mall market) when I could be saving that gas to go to work?? Tune in if you are near a TV- I go on at 2:50 pm EST! Also, thank you to everyone that wrote in with their "time management" suggestions- will post those a little later.

On Fox Business today!!

Talking about what to wear in a recession (yep,  there IS a different way to dress) . That's right- we are in a recession. I don't care what the president or Ben Bernake says. Our capital markets are totally unstable and the worst is yet to come. On that happy note, I will try and load the video for those of you that don't get Fox Business!

Fox Business today

Just got back from doing a remote for Fox Business (yeppy, still here in New Mexico visiting my family) on gift cards. Did you know people gave and received almost $29 billion in gift cards this year?? BUT, about $8 billion will never be redeemed! I am partially to blame for that $8 bil. figure- I find it IMPOSSIBLE to cash my gift cards in unless they are from a place I frequent. I.e., Barneys...
